Preventive service of tools and work centres is performed in DC1 Manufacturing, whereas the planning, reporting and handling of the preventive service is handled in DC1 Service. See About preventive services in DC1 Service for the latter.
Service orders are created automatically for calibration handled tools. The planning for these tools is handled in DC1 Manufacturing, but the reporting, follow-up and statistics are handled in DC1 Service.

Prerequisites
The following information must be set up:
- A preventive service type must be set up in the Preventive service type table.
- A service order type must exist in the Sales order type table.
- A service kit must be defined in the Recommended kit table.
