Create a work centre

Note: The procedure for creating a department section is the same as for the creation of a work centre, with the exception that Work centre type must be set to 2 (Department section).

  1. Select the Work with work centres menu item.
  2. You access Work with work centre. Click Add.
  3. You access Work centre maintenance. Complete the following fields:

    Enter a code for the work centre.
    Description
    Enter a description of the work centre.
    Sub-contracting
    Indicate if the work centre is external or internal.
    Calendar
    Enter a calendar.
    Normal capacity
    Enter the number of working hours per day.
    Man factor
    This field is only mandatory if Workl planning type is set to 1 (run/labour), and Work centre type is set to 1 (Work centre). Enter the number of people that the capacity is to be multiplied with to make up the nominal total capacity/day.
    Number of shifts
    Enter the number of shifts that the capacity is to be multiplied with to make up the nominal total capacity/day. Note: This field is not displayed if the MPL-TIME (Plan operation by date/time) function is activated in the file.
    Number of machines
    This field is only mandatory if Workl planning type is set to 2 (Machine), and Work centre type is set to 1 (Work centre). Enter the number of machines that the capacity is to be multiplied with to make up the nominal total capacity/day.
    Resources per job
    Enter the number of resources to be used for an operation.
    Scheme group
    Enter the scheme group to be used for capacity creation and for workload planning on date and time. Note: This field is only displayed if the MPL-TIME (Plan operation by date/time) function is activated in the Function control file and can only be completed if Workload planning on this panel is set to YES. If it is set to NO and MPL-TIME is active, then this field must be left blank.
    Capacity created to
    Displays the horizon date for the capacity which is used for planning orders. If an order has been scheduled beyond the work centre horizon date the scheduling will stop and error message is displayed. Note: This date is updated when the capacity for the work centre is created.
    Work centre type
    Enter a code indicating how the work centre is allowed to be used in the system. Permitted values are 1 (Work centre) and 2 (Department section). For this example, enter 1.
    Efficiency factor
    Enter a value indicating how the planning of one operation should be calculated. If the value is less than 100 the work centre capacity will be reduced with the entered factor. This means that if the value is, for example 75, the work centre capacity is reduced with 25%.
    Workl planning type
    Enter a code indicating the type of operation time to be the base for the workload calculation. Permitted values are 1 (run and labour time and internal set-up) and 2 (machine time and internal set-up).
    Write down method
    Enter a code indicating how the write down of the workload should be performed on the manufacturing order. Permitted values are 1 (reported quantity) and 2 (reported time). (See About workload handling for manufacturing orders for detailed information.)
    Reporting calc
    This field is used to calculate run/labour, machine or approved quantity at manufacturing order operation reporting. Enter a code indicating the type of calculation that should be used for this work centre. Permitted values are 1 (No suggestion calculated), 2 (Time will be calculated) and 3 (Approved quantity will be calculated).
    Workload planning
    Indicate if workload is to be calculated for this work centre.

    Click OK to update the new work centre.

    Note: Additional panels are displayed where you can enter information about hourly price information used for product costing and manufacturing orders. You can also define future work centre prices on these additional panels. See Activate future work centre prices for more information about these fields.

    Exit the routine.
