Navigate the CMC

The information to which you have access depends on your role in your company. When accessing the CMC, you are presented with the information subscribed to you through a CMC role, defined in the User profile table.

  1. Select the Customer Management Console menu item.
  2. You access the Customer basic panel. This is the panel you access the first time you enter the Customer Management Console after each log on. The fields displayed are the ones determined by the data set that is connected to the selected view, as described in Create a CMC data set. The views that are presented on the panel are the ones assigned to you through your user profile.
  3. Scenario: Assume you are a sales order clerk and one of your customers calls you asking about the company’s open orders. With your assigned CMC panel in front of you, enter the customer number for which you want to view basic information and click OK.

  4. The basic information of the selected customer is displayed. In the View/option entry field, enter view 500 (Current info) and click OK.
  5. You access the Customer Management Console, Current info panel. In the View/option entry field, click the prompt to select an option. For this example, select option 501 Open orders and click OK to update.
  6. You access the Sales order enquiry program, where you can find the information regarding your customer’s orders. Click Back to return to the CMC panel.
  7. Now, your customer wants you to give him a sales quotation for some items. While on the same panel, either enter view 800=Work with, or use the applicable function key on the panel. In the View/option entry field, click the prompt to select another option. For this example, select option 801 Quotation, and click OK twice to update.
  8. You access the Work with sales quotations panel where you can add the quotation.
  9. To even further narrow down your research, click the prompt in the sub-option entry field to select a sub-option pertaining to the view you are using.
  10. Conclusion
    The above are only a few examples of how to navigate the CMC. The CMC panel cuts the lead time between questions and answers. You do not have to go back and forth within the system, and you are always ready to perform whatever your customers expect you to do.
